Abstract:

During the collapse of Yugoslavia, media attention was directed at Sarajevo. There was virtually no coverage of events at sea. What happens when Canada commits most of her navy (and some maritime patrol aircraft) to the Adriatic to conduct sanctions enforcement against the Milosevic regime? Op SHARP GUARD was a dangerous operation involving good old Cold War shadowing games, overflights, and “incidents at sea.”
