Order Back Issue "The Mobile Striking Force and Canadian Continental Defence 1948-1955"
Canadian Military History Vol. 2, No. 2 Autumn 1993

Abstract:

During the first decade of the Cold War, Canada maintained an airportable and airborne brigade group designed as a quick reaction force for North American Hemispheric security operations. This article explains how the Mobile Striking Force was organized, the types of exercises it conducted, and the Force's strategic rationale. Indeed, the MSF was the Canadian Army's main raison d'etre in the late 1940's before the Korean War.
