In Berndt Horn (ed) Forging a Nation (Toronto: Vanwell Publishing, 2002)

Abstract:

Is there a “Canadian Way of War?” A reaction to those who have tried to ape Russell Weigly’s seminal work and adopt it to the Canadian context, this chapter in FAN argues that there are Canadian “strategic traditions” in play, evenif thereis a lack of a defined national strategy or even policy. These are not necessarily codified, but they are understood and have been operative during the course of the nation’s existence. They remain even more important today. Berndt Horn will be taking these ideas one step further in a future collection of essays using the “Canadian Way of War” as a title.
