Balkan's End Game Sean M Maloney, PhD
Canada's end-game in Bosnia came in 2004 with little or no fanfare, probably because of the operations in Afghanistan. I traveled to Bosnia in the summer of 2004 with our SFOR contingent one last time to observe the final operations and pull out. These two pieces were written and sent off to five different magazines and journals-but nobody was interested and I was bluntly told the Balkans were "irrelevant" on two occasions. That is most unfortunate as there are many lessons to be learned and much context to be gained from that 14-year engagement, not to mention that fact we lost 25 soldiers there. Here they are. |
