This was my response to the media-led freak out resulting from the deterioration of the security situation in 2006 when Afghanistan was invaded by Pakistan-based jihadists. The question of whether Canada should pull out and do UN peacekeeping somewhere else was raised publicly while our troops were pushing back and defeating the insurgent’s fall operations west of Kandahar City.
