In 2014 I was asked by the Crown to be an expert witness at trial involving an Al Qaeda cell apprehended in Canada. As part of that process I explained to the court how the jihadist training systems in Afghanistan evolved prior to Operation ENDURING FREEDOM’s intervention in 2001. Indeed, this information is crucial in understanding why the OEF intervention took place and what the results of it were, something that requires significantly more study.
